No.251/Search problem in PDIC wince

    Hi,

    I got EDICT from Monash university translated to use for PDIC on Casio PocketPC E700. Since it has about 80000 entry, when i tried to seach a word using the searching menu (both Japanese and english), I always got the whole Wince machine Jam up (hang, not responding and seems like is keep on searching but not result is displayed). Similar dictionary file is used for PDIC windows version and it works perfectly well.

    Please kindly teach me how to overcome this problem. I would like to suggest to have a "stop searching button" which has a much higher priority , so that user could search the searching loop manually.

    It is a problem that I know. But I cannot find by which it is caused.
    Stop button is good solution, but it is not a resolution.
    Because non-stop searching is maybe caused by PDIC's bug...
    It will be fixed soon.

    By the way, such like STOP button is needed to stop the searching,
    but I cannot find best way yet. Where should be located, ... and so on.

    If you have a good idea about stop button, could you tell me?(^^)
    (it's a design matter, not functional)

    Thanks for the reply. I would like to suggest to place the stop button just besides the close application button (X). A similar size icon could be placed just besides the close icon.

    I am not sure if this project is an open source project. If it is, I would like to take part during free time to find solve this problem. I hope you may provide me some guidance on where to start.

    Thanks for your suggenstion.
    New PocketPC version has released, but not support stop button yet.
    The searching can be stopped by execution of other search command for
    now.

    This is not open source.
    If you are programmer, do take part in as tester.
    I think I can take good advice from you.
    (Don't see my source code. It is jammed.(^^;)

    If you want to do so, please mail to me.
    I will give you test version of PDIC.

    以上終了について報告させていただきます。
    Ver.0.70を日本語版XP SP2で使っていて、アラビア語の訳語検索を行うと、2回目でいつも以上終了します。以前のバージョンで使っていたときは、こういうことはおこりませんでした。といっても、以前のバージョンを消してしまったので、再現不能ですが。。。


    > Ver0.70を日本語版Win2000で使ってます。
    > 次に挙げる見出し語を辞書登録して検索すると、"NG"の場合PDICが異常終了します。
    > ちなみに、見出し語の長さを変えると、"OK"になります。
